Sustainable recording and touring practices

Hi

I am looking to learn more about what artists and recordists can do or have done to promote sustainable / eco-friendly recording or touring practices.....even audio manufacturers who have embraced these ideas and put them into their processes.

- Recycling/re-using
- Energy efficient powering
- Lowering carbon output
- Building/touring in an eco-friendly manner
- Efficient/non-wasteful packaging and shipping

I appreciate any leads/input.

i have toured in a vehicle that was converted to run on vegtable oil. aside from using a renewable form of energy, we spent $80 on gas in 2+wks

not sure where you're at, but my friends do the conversion in pittsburgh:

I know Dan Deacon is doing this too. I heard a story on NPR. He didn't know the details though because his driver was the one who built the engine.

1. When you drop that groupie, don't throw it back in the pond, but rather pass it on to the drummer.

2. Broken guitar strings make excellent garrotes, especially if you tie the ends around broken drum sticks.

3. Scrape up the gaffer tape off the stage and peel it off instruments and your clothes; one week's worth can be balled up into a living-room floor worthy pillow.

4. Don't pour out those beer bottle dregs, unless it's in the radiator (or bong).

I work in a community college's theatre, and my boss loves to mess with the inexperienced students who help us out. One of his favorite things to do is give an inexperienced student the job of pulling all the gaff off the dance floor when we're getting ready to take it up. He waits until they're about halfway done, then walks up to them and says, "Oh, and by the way, save the tape."
