$200, seriously? Is there not a cheaper way to do this? I don't need the reamp equivalent of a monster cable. I'm not gonna pay 200 bucks for something that doesnt even actually make sound.

Second on the DIY. Use an Edcor tranny. I've built several for very little money, including a very nice metal case. They work excellent. Otherwise, $200 isn't that much money if you reamp a lot. You will get your money out of it if you take care of it.

Good point. Like quality mic stands, cabling, patch bays, etc.

yeah a hobby, though i'm making decent tunes. i dont know how you full-timers out there can afford to spend $200 on something like a reamp. isn't it impossible to make money in a studio these days?

Try the Radial ProRMP. It's a passive reamp, and it's half the price of the XAmp and the Reamp model.

It only has 1 output, as opposed to 2 on the XAmp, and you don't have to deal with a wall-wart.

I use it frequently and it works as advertised.

Yip. That's just what they cost. I bought a little labs Red Eye for $250 because it's both a reamp and a nice DI. But if that wasn't around I can't say I would have balked at the price of the reamp. All it does is make your reamping sound significantly better. You can always just turn the output of your DAW down a lot and run it straight in to an amp!

I put out $200 for a Radial X-Amp in August 2006. I'm not all that DIY-experienced (less three years ago than now) so I dropped the cash. If you can DIY build a passive one, awesome! Do it! For me, the X-Amp was worth $200.

The cool thing to remember is all of the crazy experimentation that you can do once you have a ReAmp device. Whether $200 or $35, it's worth it to have one.

It's for that reason, that it pays for itself (even if it doesn't literally pay for itself).

FWIW, using the Reamp (or other equivalent reamping device) does sound significantly better than using a passive DI in reverse or just sending the signal straight out of your DAW. You can actually get realisticly awesome reamped guitar tones with it.

If you don't wanna spend the money you can use a DI in reverse. Use the search function to read more about it. I held out for a long time, but in the end I ended up getting one and it was very much worth it.

Yep, I just got mine and it works great.

BTW, the Reamp is the original, I mean that guy invented it and produces it in very small numbers so I totally understand the $200 price tag. I would have loved to have bought one from him just to support small business and because he tracked those Dead kennedys albums; but I had to spend the money elsewhere and the ProRMP fits the bill.
