Hardware Delay for Vocals

I'm looking to get old school dub style delay on vocals in a live and rehearsel setting as well as recording. Very early Jane's Addiction/Perry Farrell vocals would be a good reference. He used the Ibanez DM1000 rack unit. I'm looking to get something new that may have a similar sound. Hardware only. Any suggestions?

In order of preference:

Chandler Digital Echo

Fulltone Tube Tape Echo

Alesis MidiVerb 4

Line6 DL-4

All the above have a fairly analog-sounding delay, (what you'd want for dub, IMO) except the Fulltone which really IS analog, not sure if they still make the Chandler.

what no mention of the Deltalab Effectron? I (and a few other fellas on this board) love those delays. I dont have a functioning one right now, but they sound great. Just don't road them too hard as they seem to quit if you expect them to take a 4-5 foot drop off a stage and function.
They do have a nice soft sound, the delays can be modulated as well. It also does flange and phase with positive or negative feedaback. Delay times vary depending on the model. I have seen 256ms up to 1024ms. I heard they also made a 2048ms model but you know, the internet is full of bs.
Oh yeah, the pedals being sold at GC these days with the deltalab name/logo have NOTHING to do with the originals.

I just picked up a blue face adm 256 effectron at a yardsale in front of a drum shop. It cost me 15 bucks. I have another one just like it and it is broken. I was hoping to get one that works from the pair and maybe even get a longer delay out of them. I like the noisy washed out character of those particular delays.

Not the cleanest piece of gear but it sounds awesome. I've comfortably used this as my only OTB delay for years, and I know a pretty successful dub producer who only uses one for all his delay work as well.

I have a '42 and I use it 1 out of every 25 times I need delay. I use the effectrons WAY more than the 42. its a great delay, and for modulated predelay for the plate? nothing beats it....

another vote here for the old DeltaLab DDLs, specifically the Effectron and Super Time-Line units.

note: i'm NOT talking about the bullshit Musician's Friend/GC Chinese crap pedals that are now badged as DeltaLab.

PCM 42 and 41 sound pretty nice and just enough degraded to me when
the 2X button is engaged. Lengthens the delay but more importantly
cuts the fidelity in half.
