Full Yamaha PM1000 16ch console Modified Excellent condition

Hey guys,

I'm finally deciding (for real this time) to part with my pimped out PM1000. It's in Portland OR.

The modifications that I've done include:

1. Global recap of all the electrolytics. All electrolytic caps have been replaced with Nichicon PW's in the input strips and Nichicon HE's in the master strips. (I even did the talkback and aux strips) Also, the power supply has been completely recapped. So, that is every electrolytic cap in the entire board! These caps are all about 3 years old now. So lots and lots of life.

2. All echo pots have been replaced. Nice and smooth here.

3. All tantalum capacitors have been replaced with Wima MKS-2 .47uF films. The input coupling tants were replaced with 3.3uF MKS-2's

4. The eq points have been changed:
From 1KHz to 700Hz by changing the caps from .15uf to .27uF film caps
From 2KHz to 1.6KHz by changing the caps from .068uf to .1uf film caps
From 4KHz to 3.2KHz by changing the caps from .033uf to .051uf film caps
From 10KHz to 12KHz by changin the caps from .047uf (C15) to .039uf film caps

However, there are a couple of channels with a 2.2uF cap for the low mids. Channel 1 has this cap. It's useful for kick drum to roll off around 250 to 400 HZ.

I used panasonic films for the eq caps.

5. All 16 channels have direct outputs using the original Tamura transformers.

The busses have Cinemag CMOQ-2S's (These are the same Transformers 7th Circle uses in their API kit.), I replaced them for Buss 1&2A, 1&2B, and 3&4A. What this means is that there is no monitor section output transformer, but I just monitored through the redundant Buss 1&2 while 1&2A went to mix-down, which is nice since it's the exact same circuit.
None of the master strips have the monitor out transformer in them. I've never used the monitor out, as I never liked how it sounded compared to monitoring via the master outs.

6. I added 2 DI inputs where the ch. 15 and 16 "cue buttons" are (see pics) These sound ridiculously awesome.

The board is in fantastic shape. I love this thing enough, have put enough time and money into upgrades and have received enough interest that I'm gonna set the price at $2000. I know PM1000's have usually been had for less but please consider what you you could potentially be getting here.

P.S. I forgot about the cracked plastic headphone jack plate. I actually have an extra one of these that'll I'll throw in. It's pretty easy to replace.

I know I know. If I hadn't just drove to frikkin Reno to get a PM2000! Boo-ya!

Anyway, I wish somebody would come pick this sucker up. I have a few people from GS that are all about it, but I gotta crate it up and ship.

If I had known you were coming to Reno, I would have asked you to bring the PM1000 and drop it off after picking up the PM2000. (sigh)

BTW, crating a board isn't so bad. I did that years ago with a large format console and had no problems. I just found a company that did that sort of thing and I dropped it off with them. They did a great job and I got a package deal with shipping.

Building the crate doesn't seem like too much of a problem. But what did you put on the inside, between the channel strips and the crate? Styrofoam?

I guarantee the thing is going to be flipped over upside down so I'd want to be prepared for that.

It's super easy. I just did a PM2000 not too long ago (one of the ones you were asking about).

Just lay the board in the crate and attach a 2x4 brace running the length of the padded arm rest- pinning the board down. Then fix 2x4 wedges between the brace and the lid.

Attach (screw) the bottom of the crate to a pallet. Makes it easier to move and it won't get flipped.

I'll ship it, if somebody wants to pay for it. I'll build a crate for the cost of Home Depot materials, no more, and ship probably via Forward Air which is pretty cheap if you can pick it up at an airport.

honkyjonk, did you snag that Pm2000 for that was in Reno? The one with the weird mod on the busses? That was a killer deal. My grandfather lives there, and I almost convinced him to bring it in his camper all the way to Nashville. No dice though...

Weird mods on the output busses? Wha? I'm not sure if that was the same PM2K. I bought it probably 4 or 5 months ago.

It was a killer deal, but it's taking months and months of work to get it up and running. I've spent forever trying to get the faders workable. But I think I've found the right combination of alcohol, dishwasher, drillbit, and lube.

Concerning the PM1K,
The channels just have the original 40 and 80 HZ high pass. No low pass filters.

It's still available. Lots of interest but no takers yet.
