SM7 windscreen

Post by junkstar » Thu Oct 08, 2009 10:48 am

So, yeah, I'm an idiot.... Could someone explain to me how you get the windscreen off an SM7? For the life of me, I twist and toy with it and can't seem to make it happen.

There's a little plastic ring at the bottom that the foam's attached to. You have to work that ring loose and then the screen will slide right off.

Yup, basically it just pulls off. But you have to pull it by the plastic ring.

I usually just pry the plactic ring loose with any flat utensil that I have lying around.

Don't pull on the foam!

How much does the tone change without the windscreen. When I borrowed one I don't remember taking of the windscreen. I need to get one of those someday.

In my couple days with the mic, I thought it sounded good, but then, Jay Bennett disciple that I am, I pulled that thing off and I don't think I'm putting it back on. Very open and detail on vox without the screen.

Thanks, I'll file that away for if I ever buy one.
