Producer/Engineer Summit in Nashville, TN

Post by cjmnash » Sat Aug 22, 2009 7:19 pm

Introducing a Recording Producer/Engineer Summit that actually takes place in a recording studio. ?Welcome To 1979 ? a retro, all analog recording studio in Nashville, TN ( www.welcometo1979.com ) will be hosting this summit November 14th and 15th, with a kick-off recording session/party on Friday November 13th featuring The New Belgravians laying it down live to two track.

This summit is geared for all you up and coming producer/engineers out there, but will be limited to 100 attendees. It will focus on ?all the things you can?t find in a book?, will cost $125 per person ($128 via paypal), and features some of the best panelists this industry has to offer.

There is a lot of bang-for-the-buck with 12 ninety-minute panels per day. Each day 4 of these panels will be focusing solely on the art of Producing & Engineering (which will take place in the control room) along with 8 panels per day on such related topics as:

Mastering (preparing a project for mastering)
Studio Ownership
What am I worth? (a discussion on rates)
Internships (put on by former interns)
Business of Music (invoicing, taxes, write-offs)
Recording Schools (composed of directors of recording schools)
D.I.Y. Gear
Tape Machines 101
Studio Maintenance
General Q&A
Recording Artists (what they expect from a producer/engineer)
Mixing
Compression
Microphones
Pinball with Panelists (mentoring with your favorite panelist in the game room)

Plus an analog recording session Saturday night featuring a local rock band, some down and dirty analog recording techniques, and a whole lotta fun.

Panelists include:

Rich Adler (Neil Young, Sam Bush, Johnny Cash)
Randy Blevins (Blevins Audio)
Neal Cappellino (Joan Osborne, Vince Gill, Allison Krauss)
Eric Conn (Independent Mastering)
Lynn Fuston (3D Audio, DC Talk, Michael W. Smith)
Marshall Green (Marshman Studios)
Jason Lehning (Lyle Lovett, Guster, Emerson Hart)
Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Willie Nelson)
Billy Livsey (Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Kenny Rogers)
Chris Mara (Welcome To 1979 Studio)
Bob Olhsson (Tape Op #30)
Mark Prentice (Elvis Costello, Joe Cocker, Amy Grant)
Mark Rubel (Pogo Studio, Tape Op #47)
Jonathan Russell (Masterfonics Mastering)
Steve Sadler (MCI)
Tony Sanfilippo (Oxide Lounge Studio, ?drumsound? on TOMB)
Ben Surratt (Claire Lynch, Jim Hurst, Ray Stevens)

And many more to be added!!

Email me (Chris Mara) at cym@mindspring.com for more information and/or to reserve your spot via full paypal payment. Hotel information packets available for out-of-town attendees.

Thanks in advance to all the panelists and attendees- this is gonna be killer.

thanks tony! i hoped for success, but never thought it would've turned out as well as it did. it was a relaxing, yet event filled weekend and tons of "magical moments" for me- panelists and attendees chit-chatting, panelists asking panelists questions during panels- total gold!

thanks to everyone involved!
