I just got the split output Reverbamate. I am really impressed. It's physically small considering how it sounds. That's a plus because I don't fancy another guitar head sized box taking up what little space I have. But it doesn't sound small.

The Orban 111B gets a lot of use in my studio.
Really long decay.... and I love it.
Another trick - I use the SPL Transient Designer after the Orban to control the reverb tail. Really gives you some options there... (also use the TD with an echo chamber to change the decay time... super useful).

While I love my Eventide 2016s, I still keep my Vesta Fire RV-2 spring reverb. For a spring reverb the thing sounds pretty durn good.

Of all the small, rack mount springs I own, the Sound workshop for sure is my favorite.

I have an AKG BX5, an intersound spring, a peavy valverb, a couple of tape echo units with springs in them, and the SW.
The SW with a culture vulture before it is insane... like tube spring verb style.
I will use it in mono and send some of the return to a plate, usually., but even on its own it is awesome.
The peavey is also really, really great. I have a fender output xformer in mine and it is low output but it sounds quite nice driven a bit. different vibe, for sure.
The SW is like a mini plate verb. the others are like springs.

I am, for the first time, able to use actual rooms-as in physical spaces- to get reverb. I'm in a mostly empty warehouse building, and have been sneaking into the empty rooms and illicitly setting up amps and drums. two figure 8 mikes at 90 degrees makes me want to ask for a refund on my reverb plug ins.

I've heard of people doing it before, and now I understand.

I completely hear you on that!
In my current space there is a giant irregular trapezoid in the middle of the building. It's basically a living room/lounge area that I share with the t-shirt shop next door. I have to wait until no-one is around before I can record in there, but man, it sounds perfect for guitar! The ceiling isnt even parallel to the floor, the walls are all at crazy angles and its about 3 stories tall.
I like to put a 5 watt tube amp at one side and mic it dead on with a 57, then a 609 dead on about 10 feet back, then a sennheiser or Oktava SDC about 40 feet away. Or sometimes my GT fet in omni. Yeah, makes convolution sound like toilet paper.
I want to get a slide guitar in here.

the classic dub sound of king tubby and countless others. all tube and pretty tweakable...

the vesta fire rv-2 over at our joint sounds swell. it's a bit mid forward, doesn't have any sparkle or sheen, but swims effortlessly in a mix. we used to have a microplate that was super cool. i don't know why we set it free.

I've got a rack mount DOD spring verb.. 848 i think.. my place is a mess and the racks are under a layer or two of tarp and random stuff.. moving is no fun, moving into a place that still is under construction.. even less fun.

Its noisy as all hell.. and kinda awkward.. but i love it when it works out for the right situation... I still hope for another unit, stereo would be great.. with less noise...

My friend just picked up the Demeter RV-1, and that unit is pretty amazing. Lots of reverb variety in one rack space. It doesn't get real trashy like the Soundworkshop or some other spring reverbs but it had lots of options and isn't very noisy. Glad I can use it for mixing now.

so - if i wanted to set up some predelay to a hardware 'verb tank, would i just go from an aux send (for instance) -> a reamp box -> delay with the mix set to 100% wet and no feedback -> 'verb -> preamp -> console or DAW in?

or am i misunderstanding how to utilize predelay?
