Can someone identify this bass?

the band is deerhoof. i saw them a few years ago when they still had chris cohen in the band and the bass he was playing sounded so awesome. i really would love to know what it was. unfortunately i don't have any photos of the headstock, just the neck and body as above.

anyway if someone knows what it is that'd be sweet.

I think it's made by Goya.

It's definitely a Goya - couldn't find another picture of one, but there's a picture of its 6-string equivalent on this page:

My band supported Cryptacize in the UK last year and Aaron uses one of these - it perhaps belongs to Chris Cohen, who was also in Deerhoof when your pictures were taken. Hmmm.....

I have no idea how these basses sound, but their visual aesthetics are brilliant. The Italian sensibility of design comes through in a very appealing way.

he was just playing through one of those hartke 1x12 cabs. i can't recall what head but it was nothing special as far as i can remember.

ha, that would be it then. photos on cryptacize's myspace page reveal the very same guitar. the internet is so great for figuring out stuff like this.
