A plugin that mixes for you!!
Okay, first of all, I have an use EZ Drummer. It's a nice little program and can be quite handy as a fancy metronome when laying down guitar tracks or just for general inspiration from time to time.
However, this morning in my in box, I got an email from Toontrack about a new plugin... EZ mix.
Quote: 'Simply connect EZmix to a channel strip in your sequencer like you would any plug-in, pick a preset for the instrument or sound on that strip. Done.'
Well, that's a time saver, innit?

Yeah, I saw that in my inbox, too.
I'm about 99% sure that it's not something I'd ever really need now, but I can see how something like this would've helped out when I was initially made the jump from a tascam four track to a DAW, when all of a sudden I had a million tweaking possibilities at my disposal and no real idea what to do with them. Then again, I'm not sure if the time saved from a preset mixer would've been worth the time spent on a million failed experiments, and a couple of decent ones.

Their answer to Waves' "Rider" plugin. And their newer "FX" series of multiFX solve-it-all plugins.
I own those. I tried to use some of them. I'd rather pull my teeth myself, with some rusty pliers and no anesthetic.
This one looks the same.
Someone who has a large head though their presets would be cool to sell. Bingo, $$$$.

Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.

It's clearly a bad thing for good music, although I'm sure it will be a great thing for bad music.
I think it's very telling that these automagical mixerizers all assume you have guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and keyboards.
It's also odd, because you could never get away with charging 50 bucks for a bunch of presets for all the various DAWs native effects, but that would be essentially the same product as this, and would furthermore allow for the user to access the underlying processes.
From a business perspective, I think this type of tech would be better built in to the DAW. I hate to say it, because I use it and don't like their marketing, but SONAR should totally snap this up, it would fit right in with the way they sell themselves.
