New Tascam 238 8track cassette effort.....

Post by konabuzz » Thu Sep 02, 2010 6:30 pm

Hey, all....

Here is another example of modest playing, but hopefully improved mixing technique using my Tascam 238. I must say....after years mixing in the box I find it totally liberating to mix in real time through a board, tweaking eq, effect sends, pan/fader as you go. It's a bit terrifying knowing there are no "undo" options....you must make the correct choices in sequence all the way through, or it's rewind and start over. It's also very rewarding, and good practice using your ears as opposed to your eyes (something I'm guilty of). I also have a Tascam 34b 4 track 1/4" R2R that I'm going to press into service again soon. Twice the tape width, half the number of tracks, 2x or 4x the speed = greater fidelity. There's something about the cassette medium, however......it feels as though it shouldn't work, yet arguably it does.
