Picked up a new Fender MIM Precision Bass today. Black finish, white pick guard, rosewood fretboard. I wasn't looking for that specific finish (I was considering white w/ a maple fretboard), but I played this one a few different times in the store and it had a great feel and sound to it. By comparison there was another bass of the exact same model that had fret buzz galore and almost no sustain. Brought it right to band practice and it sounded fantastic in the mix and was really comfortable to play, so I'm feeling pretty good about my purchase.

Sovtek Mig 50 tube amp in mint condition. Funny little beast with it's plastic switches etc. Sounds really great though.

How about re-aquiring....

7 years ago my home was robbed of 5 guitars, plus many other things. The Seattle police were of no help and made it clear that they weren't interested in conducting any sort of investigation whatsoever.

I made my own search of pawnshops, music stores, etc. The guitars stolen were 3 Danelectros, a cheapie, and a beloved Epi Casino, JL model.

As the years passed I replaced the Danos. I looked for my guitars in every pawnshop I came across. Almost compulsively I checked ebay and craigslist every morning after reading my email. Whenever a Casino showed up I would remember my missing guitar.

You kow where this story is going.... last week an Epi was on CL. I commented to a fellow worker that I once owned on just like it. As I looked at the pictures I realized that I once owned one JUST LIKE IT!!

There were several slight cosmetic flaws that were clear in the photos. I found my Casino. I was so excited that I took the rest of the day off. I played it cool and called to set up a buy.

To make a long story short, Seattle cops still didn't care, guitar was in a small suburb. I called the local cops and insisted that one of them accompany me to meet the seller. The serial numbers matched. After more hassles with the cops (they suggested that I actually buy it from the guy) I returned homwe with my guitar.

She was a little battle scarred from 7 1/2 years of being away from home, but was the same cool guitar I remembered. In celebration I learned "Revolution" with my band.

The moral of the story is: Don't give up looking for stolen gear. You can and will find it.

Just picked up my Moog liberation from the shop. I traded it for studio time but it didn't have the power supply in/out box (which makes it a paper weight without it) but I found a shop willing to build one from scratch. So now sees up and running.

My 19" wide-screen fried, so I just bought a 23" Acer wide-screen.

Now I get more tracks on display and all the visual editing is much easier and - hell, posting here is much easier on these ol' eyes.

Last few weeks also brought me a pair of Digital Reference GX1's I'm using for OH's in a bright, tight basement, and a Zoom R16 to record 'em, with the bonus Samson headphones and a load of cables, and I also got 3 boom stands and now I'm broke.

Like, really broke.

But happy!
