Source for re-claimed studio architectural stuff?

Doors, glass, etc. preferably in the northeast.

I was trying to wrangle some 3-panel sliding glass doors from Clinton but couldn't pull it together in time, before they demo'd.

Craigslist/eBay?

Last spring, we got some used diffusors that came out of The Hit Factory off of eBay. They were actually being sold by P.A.D.

Round here, Habitat For Humanity have a couple of reclaimed building materials shops...there's also a place in Boulder that does the same. Worth checking the yellow pages.

Actually, check this list:

Also worth going to your local big-box stores, and asking where they stash the returns on custom orders, cosmetically damaged stuff, etc. My local Lowes usually has a few doors and windows in the very back of the store.

Check your local college/university for a "salvage yard" or (my favorite goofy name) "property deposition center". Back in high school I used to find old tube gear sometimes at the UMichigan one, and there were always cubicle panels and such.

Acoustical Materials, doors etc used/reclaimed

Post by padpres » Wed Jan 05, 2011 1:27 pm

We do have some reclaimed good condition used QRD type diffusors in Cherry finish in a variety of sizes, 2' x 2' and 4' x 2'. We also have some quantity of used sliding glass partiions/doors, and some Cherry Slab doors which are 300lb acoustic doors but without frame, sizes range dfrom standard 3.0 door to 39" x 84".

We can also provide competitve pricing on new acoustical hardware and happy to help figure out what will be most effective for your studio. Let me know what you are looking for.
