I just got myself a pair of custom 4 space racks for my preamps and compressors. They should be here next week. If I like em' I will probably order some more.

Not really doing Christmas this year though. My girlfriend and I talked about it and decided to give the money we would have spent on stuff for each other to charity.

If Sennheiser and TL Audio ever get their shit together and mail it to me, a new M3 tubetracker and an EQ-2. Just got the C-1. Sounds great on drum machine, actually.

My brother's getting Reason. Shhh... It's a secret

we opened gifts at my mom's house today because we couldn't get together on Christmas day and I got 2 new harmonicas, a harmonica holder (the shoulder kind) and N.W.A.s "Straight Outta Compton"

My dad is giving me cash to buy a new bass with (I convinced him that I needed a new one for an audition to get into a nice music school) and I might spend some of that on getting a back-up MMT-8 for when my current one poops out (it's only a matter of time)

Santa is bringing me a Fluke 123 oscilloscope for doing azimuth adjustments. And hopefully some books on recording, too.

Peace to all,
-mark

Some 5 packs of SA90s is the only recording thing I'm getting, excluding an old (but new, if you get me) Bush Arena amp/receiver (has 2 SW bands on it!!) from this ludicrous 'hi-fi' shop in Buxton (it's like something out of The League of Gentleman - the old bloke has brand new 1970s Sharp, Ferguson, Bush, B&O etc. music centres, with Garrard Transcription t/tables on them and built-in cassette decks with VUs, etc. etc.) . So short-wave shananigons will be occurring all over my shit in '05.

Records too. Like Broken Soc Scene's YFIIP, GSYBE's Yanqui, Air's MS, Amon Duul II (coupla things), Flaming Lips' YBPR, plus other crap (all vinyl, natch).

A great friend/fellow engineer surprised the hell out of me last week with a glorious old Altec limiter. I'm very touched.

and it rocks.

I'll probably treat myself to a "real" acoustic guitar after all these years (though I've been told repeatedly that the old no-brand is due to pop apart any day now, it's been over a decade and my only beef is the action).

I'm also planning on building some mic pres, some more TapeOp omnis, and hopefully the LA2a clone that got me back into serious DIY.

A fun day of drinking whiskey and smoking pot with my roommates as we clean our trashed house, just to have more afterhours parties and trash it again. YAY!

Anyone in Seattle is invited to come on over.
