GREAT Isolation Heaphones for Under $35!!!
I have some older studio headphones but they didn't isolate enough when playing drums, my drums were even louder than what I was monitoring through the headphones. I ALMOST bought those extreme isolation headphones, until I became inspired.
I put some earbuds in my ears, then put my saftey headphones from my job on over that. OH MAN!! Fantastic! After LOVING the effect with crappy earbuds: I went out and bought these: http://www.koss.com/koss/kossweb.nsf/p? ... ^np^KEB24S -----which actually plug your ear, so the sound'll be even more isolated!
I seriously doubt that those expensive iso headphones can cut out as much background sound as this combination does.

Not exactly the same but I've been pretty darn happy using the $50 Vic Firth iso phones for monitoring a mix/click-track while playing drums. They don't handle highs or lows very well but that's not really the point. Anyway, just pointing out another option if you don't want to deal with putting ear buds in for every take.

I have done this too and it works great. You might wanna soak the removeable rubber from the ear buds in hydrogen peroxide after the session. Don't wanna swap ear wax, that could be bad, not to mention gross.
