getting a console power supply made

can anyone offer some advice on getting a spare power supply for our console made? we have a 26x24x8x2 Tac/Matchless which came with an Amek Series 850 power supply.

The thing is chewing up fuses with reckless abandon. The fuse sockets are all corroded and don't grip the fuses well. It's generally blowing either the + or - 17v rails. It had 5 amp fast blo fuses in it. I'm not sure if it's blowing them because something's amiss in the supply, or that the fuse contacts are so bad they are shorting out intermittently which causes surges which then blow the fuses? I'm no EE, obviously. All I've been able to figure out from web research is that these are somewhat common phenomenon with these power supplies.

I'm going to get that fixed, but in the meantime I am trying to find a spare. I'm going to see if I can find one floating around somewhere but am also interested in having a new one built that will be more reliable. I don't plan on using this console for much longer, but certainly whoever buys it will appreciate the supply and there are a lot out there, so the new ps wouldn't be a waste of money.

Can anyone recommend who I might get to do this, or does someone here do this sort of thing? Anyone have a guess at what it might cost? Any recommendations on the repair - I'm in chicago.

thanks for the advice folks. I actually posted the same question on Klett's forum, but no one has replied yet. I was able to locate a spare ps in canada, which will be here in a bit.

at some point today, i'm going to call the desk doctor folks and see about getting the old one rebuilt. There was a thread on Klett's forum about the benefits of beefing up your ps, so I think I'll explore those options when I have the thing fixed. I'll let you all know what I find out.

simply buy the correct volt/amp linear power supplies from DIGIKEY.

They have really reliable, solid ones. put them in an old rack and nobody will figure out how your old board just keeps on rockin.
