WTB: Rack Chassis, Knobs, PM1000, Pre Projects, Goodie Bag

Post by iampoor » Wed Mar 07, 2012 4:44 am

Hey, Im looking for some 1u - 4u rack chassis

Pretty vague, but Im open to just about anything. Shoot me a reply with what youve got and lets go from there :)

Im also looking for some knobs...again...just your generic run of the mill knobs that go on standard pots. Im open to just about anything here too

Also looking for an entire PM1000 console, in addition to 2 PM1000 channel strips, at a reasonable price.

Also, if you have any chassis/units that can be converted into Mic Preamps, Im looking for a few units to do a project with and gain some practical expierence.

Oh, and if someone wanted to put together a goodie bag filled with good parts for an aspiring DIYer like myself, Id definitely be interested in purchasing ;)

Rack Chassis? There good (par-metal.com), and there's cheap (circuitspecialists.com).

One of the better grab bag options I've seen is this seller on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2N4401-NPN-Tran ... 0199771068

A nice variety of parts for a very fair price. Check their other auctions for other assortments with some other designs in mind...opamps, transistors, etc.

They also have their own web site:
vakits.com

Beware some of the other assortment vendors on Ebay...some of the deals from Hong Kong and China aren't what they seem to be...resistor assortments where the stripes don't indicate the actual values, diodes with the cathode mark on the wrong end, etc...

As for knobs, I've found it very hard to beat Mouser for usable stuff that's not too pricy. Check out their knobs from Eagle Plastics.

How do the Circit Specilities units compare to say, Middle Atlantic's EC series,, or just in general?

Im been considering one of there kits, the problem is, I dont need alot of the parts they offer. Ive got resistors and caps coming out the toosh! :p

Thanks man, Ive been checking those out, seem to be very reasonably priced!

Buy my PM700. $100. Listed in this forum.

Also, I have a bunch of bits and pieces. Feel free to holler when you're on your way.

Mainly parts and wiring that are non-project-specific. I tend to get pretty Frankenstein with gear. Hence I end up with plenty of defunct equipment that can be pillaged.

I might still have a couple channel strips from a pm1k laying around.

I know I've got a lot of knobs and a couple output transformers from one though.

You're in Reno and you didn't buy that 32 channel PM1K IN Reno that was on here for weeks and weeks? The guy couldn't give it away.

Do a search. Might still be there.

I started my search too late, I tried to buy it, but he already parted it out.

Some other guy in Reno wants to sell me a 12 channel PM1k for 1400$
