Getting back to the original concept, though, has anyone considered building a gigantic snare drum and recording the band inside it? I think that would be the best way to generate harmonic overtone alignment, and properly masticate the phase relationships between input and output quotients.

oh i knew what it meant.
yesterday i was hitting a nice sounding snare pretty hard in a big room and i compressed the room mics and wow what a sound! i wonder if anyone else has ever thought of this.
