Congratulations on your new ad rate policy
More transparency, better for small advertisers...this is full of win.
I had no idea that buying print advertising was like buying shit at Guitar Center.

Agreed.
TapeOp is the best. Honesty, integrity, transparency.
If you guys were running for office, you'd get my vote.
Congratulations on persevering through these tough financial times. It's amazing to me that you're still able to put out such a great publication FOR FREE and at the same time LOWER your ad rates. It's a testament to the great people at TapeOp.
Keep up the great work!

I know this isn't exactly the point of this thread, but the whole time I was reading that in the magazine... all I could think was that TapeOp is one of the very very few magazines I would happily shell out for a subscription to.
If it came down to "paying for TapeOp" or "not having TapeOp"... it would be a quick and easy choice.

You can always pay for a subscription, and you can buy the iPad version. The advertiser-supported model works, as long as there is advertising. Keep in mind that if we switched to a paid subscription only model that our readership would likely drop A LOT and then the advertisers would pay less and then we'd be in real trouble. Paid subs is not the real answer to a magazine's health at this scale.
