New York Tapeoppers... holy s**t!
This'll only mean something to you if you're a Pere Ubu fan...
Fucking ROCKET FROM THE TOMBS is playing at the Village Underground this Friday and Saturday nights.
Talk about one of the unlikeliest "reunions" of all!

um, that is weird. is someone going to fill in for Peter Laughner?
Re: New York Tapeoppers... holy s**t!
I heard that Tom Verlaine is filling in at the Village Underground show. Not 100% sure about that, tho.

One thing's for sure. With almost 30 years between breakup and "reunion", that's got to be some kind of record.
I usually sneer at "reunion" tours, but I can't resist this one.
(I use "reunion" in quotes because, of course, it can't really be a reunion without the now-deceased Laughner. Still, even the notion of Thomas and Cheetah Chrome playing together again blows my mind).
I'd love to hear reports from anyone who catches the show in Cleveland.

Even better than the Pagans ... (well, almost ...):

(The paper the Mike Hudson edits and writes for ... his snotty punk attitude still shows through even when he's complaining about the Mayor's dishonest parking-garage deals.)
Did anyone see the Rocket From The Tombs reunion in LA?

The Azerrad effect
Wouldn't be surprised if Michael Azerrad's book (Our Band Can Be Your Life) got them going.
Heck, Mission of Burma reunited (which was the best show I've seen in the last 10 years).

Re: New York Tapeoppers... holy s**t!
The show was great. The last stop on the tour is at Maxwell's tomorrow night. I want to go, but there's that damned "work" thing which I'm obliged to attend the following morning...
They'll be doing a live-in-studio performance tuesday afternoon on WFMU. I can't pick up WFMU where I work, but I assume it's going to be streamed on the web. Can anyone recommend a good program for recording audio streams?

Just checking, does having to work the next day really keep you away from a rock show? Didn't think so..
