Toft atb issues...

Post by rustonc123 » Sun Apr 14, 2013 1:43 pm

Im having issues with my 16ch toft console master section. A buddy of mine had the 32ch, and he had some of the same issues. He sent it back to toft, but we dont recall what the issue was... The Master section wont acknowledge at all for me. Previously it seemed to have some issue that the left out wouldn't get louder and distorts. Anyone have any experience with these? Or maybe some suggestions?

Yes.

Call the company who made this for servicing.

Cheers

THD I measured at .4% at +7 dbu. That is very high for an opamp based console. All of them do that.

high THD ≠ broken

getting toft to fix it seems like the way to go; they aren't returning your calls?

That happened to my v2 ATB, well something like that. All I did was work out the dust in the 'mon' knob in the master section. Been fine every since. Maybe it's a sign of something to come.

Hey Jim, any mods for these boards to quite them down?

I am glad to see this. I have been thinking of buying a Toft board but think I will look elsewhere.

Yes, I posted them on line a few years ago. I used different opamps, removed all the el caps, added a lot of psu bypassing etc. Got noise way down on the master (but still has a lot from those noisy inputs) and got that THD way down to .003% at +27 dbu. That eliminated the THD when hitting above +3 on the meters. A good mix the will peg the analog meters hard right while retaining far better than stock clarity.
