It's just the first verse, but I've been mixing it all day, and wanted to see if anyone can tell me what they think. I can't tell what I think. My mixes used to be pretty muddy, but now I think I may have swung too far in the other direct.
any and all pointers/advice/opionions/etc. greatly appreciated!

That's a weird freakin' tune, but I like it. I wish the sampled stuff didn't sound so sampled though. I don't feel like samples really fit this style (whatever the hell style it is), unless you want that juxtaposition between the really organic feeling vocals and the more artificial sounding other stuff. Also, I feel like the vox could be a little more buried in the music to good effect, but I'd have to hear it. Maybe just "bringing up" whatever you've got that's not lead vox or sampled would work. Is that just the bg vox?

Ohhh.. I'm glad you said all that. I usually bury the vocals too much, so I think I overdid trying to bring them out. Just turned em down a bit and it sounds better.Snarl 12/8 wrote:That's a weird freakin' tune, but I like it. I wish the sampled stuff didn't sound so sampled though. I do have a real piano I might use at some point. I have 3 roommates so organic stuff is hard to track lately (though it's what I prefer).
I'm also going to try adding a few organic things to do like rezo guitar. I kinda want to see if I can have a synth bass in a song like this. I feel people are trying to merge folk and electronic lately, but most are failing. So we'll see if I get counted among them or succeed.

Hey JJ,
I like it too. I'm not feeling the electronic approach so much either, but I guess it would be good to listen to what you develop from here before deciding...
