Best cheap keys for Mellotron sound?

I'm sure it would be possible to record multiple passes of cheesy low strings, cheesy hi strings and whatnot on your Yamaha to develop a composite acceptable cheesy mellotron track. Might even be fun. Good luck.

Not what you need but I think it is interesting that someone makes an iPhone smart phone app that emulates the Mellotron.

Roland XP-10 has an excellent Mellotron sample, and they are dirt cheap used.

It's quite good too. I've used it on a number of records and no-one was the wiser.

Nice! Just checked it out. Didn't even realize that Roland made this thing. Awesome amount of expansion and sounds.

Yeah, there's a lot of really great, really useful sounds, especially in the expansion cards. The coolest thing they made around that time was the V-Combo, but I think those are a little harder to find.

Just invested $2 in the iPhone app, it seems to have the "Strawberry Fields" intro flute sound, so I'm good. I don't know if the "Bungalow Bill" flamenco guitar sound is available anywhere, that might be amusing once.

M-Tron Pro has the guitar tape they used on Bungalow Bill. I thought that was George Harrison for the longest time, with a heaping helping of cognitive dissonance.

Just found it on my app, it's in the MkII Trombone patch, the lowest G note. Fun stuff!
