I do believe Chi is setting records fer snow, and I'm not sure but would not be surprised, low temps.

I remember this one gurrl tellin' me, "It's nipply out there!"

Haven't enjoyed the few mornings of waiting for the bus to work with a -40 windchill.

erm, aren't freezing pipes like Really Really Bad? what happened? did they burst? i need to know this stuff...me and ms mse are thinking about moving to vermont....

a couple weeks ago we had a ton of snow here, which was fine until it warmed up drastically one day and everything on the roof started melting...and dripping all over the place in here (except, mercifully, my studio). i shoveled about a foot of snow off the whole (~3000 sq ft) roof.

it was horrible.

BUT! the upsides are:
1. we're getting a new roof (thank you mr landlord!). and
B. i now have arm muscles the size of nebraska. i can kick all your asses simultaneously, so be nice to me.

Frozen pipes are Really Really Bad if they burst. When it's cold, leave the taps dripping a little (keeping the water flowing helps prevent it freezing, and there's somewhere for the pressure to dissipate to if it does freeze). I do this, but whatever dipshit added on the 2nd bathroom in the house I rent decided to run the pipes in an outside wall. When it's a low of -20 and a high of -5, ain't no dripping faucet gonna save yer ass.

So, I shut the door to the bathroom, put a space heater in there full blast, and open the tap up all the way. Generally does it. Happens at least once each winter, but this year's been much worse than normal.

My tract house has the laundry room behind the attached garage.

The pipes to the washer are run thru the (mostly un-insulated) crawl space.

50 year old house, it's prob'ly always been like that.

Every winter we get those frozen pipes 1-3x over the 7 I've been here.

Good thing we have lotsa socks and hoondies.

Love it! TWO complete drum kits! What are the differences and finer points of each?

Rope and string lights... Everyone's got them nowadays... I wanted to hang some Chinese lanterns, but was shot down by the partnership triumvirate. Another thing for the list when I get my own own place..

Why, what did they ever do to you?

I have rope lights in my bedio, and one string failed, from the half-way to the end.

WTF?

Can't fix that.
