OK, I have an M30. I bought it to use with my 22-4 but like the tone of the thing without the tape deck.
It's all RCA -10 unbalanced. I want to run the line outs to the line ins on an interface and those line ins are +4 balanced. I'm getting more noise than I like (I know the M30 is noisy on its own but it's being exacerbated). Is the noise from the M30 pre's being blown up going from RCA to 1/4"?
Is there a solution anyone knows about?

I'll just reply to myself and leave it here for anyone who might encounter the same thing: the noise is from the laptop (my daw) being plugged in. Unplugged it's very quiet.
Tried some acoustic tracked through the M30 into the DAW next to tracks tracked through a Tascam US-1800. No comparison.
