Car Sound Databases?

Post by OnHoliday » Mon Nov 02, 2015 3:53 pm

I'm hunting around for a specific engine sound (accelerating Porsche 911 Cabriolet Turbo - as new as possible) for a project I'm doing some sound design for. Does anyone know of any good online databases or individuals I could contact with a pre-recorded database of engine sounds? It will be used for commercial release, definitely willing to pay. The other option is to record the tones ourselves if we can't find the tone through other means.

If you know somebody with a Porsche, I'd say go for it. It will be more fun to track your own, and then you can lease the sound to the next production guy needing a Porsche Cabriolet...

But, there's a bunch of places on the net to look for library sounds (some you can download on-line, but others you may still have to get CD's). Here's the Google search for "Production Sound resources": https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Pr ... +resources ...

Also, you may want to sign-up for another message board community called DVXUser.com . It's a site for indie film types. Post a message in the sound forum with what you're looking for. Someone might offer it up, or they may want some $$ or they may want to trade sounds with you, but it's worth a go...

http://www.sonniss.com/ just put up a bunch of car libraries. Eight different Porsche libraries. Two 911 libraries but neither is a Cabrio--still they may work.

I seem to recall either Sound Ideas or Hollywood Edge has 911s, but both libraries are older.

Update from the designer who put up the 911 libraries: "Any of the 911s would be suitable. A cab does not change the engine sound."
