Hopefully the price will come down eventually or copycats will be made. But that unit looks super high quality, and they sell replacement tape cartriges for $25. I love how the "chorus" actually modulates the speed of the motor! (At least I think that's what the video said)

And TWO expression pedal inputs!

i mean, it sounds nice but $899?

you could buy a mint space echo for that much. you could buy a strymon el capistan for $299.

I used to have the pedal version of the space echo; that thing was like $300 new and I still felt like I overpaid for it :/

I would never pay $900 for this, but I know there are guitar nerds out there who will! Especially when Sweetwater makes it look like you're "saving" $300...

Fulltone has been making both tube and solid state Echoplex clones for about a decade.

Their pricing makes the TRex look like a bargain.

Might have something to do with it.

Definitely a tough sell at that price IMHO, but I would guess there's a market for almost everything. If folks are willing to pay several hundred dollars for a digital emulation, I guess $900 for the real thing could be seen as fair. But that's a bit expensive a unicorn for me to chase.

One reason might be that the Line6 DL-4 sounds surprisingly good, does a lot more, and costs a lot less. I sure wouldn't want to gig with a $900 pedal.

And for studio use it's in the same ballpark as "real" tape delays, so why bother. Now if someone came up with a $200 version, hacked into a Walkman, I'd be all over it.
