shit cool edit pro? damn bro i was using a hot copy of cool edit pro 2.1 back in 2002/2003 man. that was the shit back then. although since mine was pirated it came with a virus that would crash my computer every 2 months. but man that first month we was rolling!
Re: Legacy DAW progs/interface?
It was such a great prog for the time, and I think even today. I also have Reaper, now, and Cakewalk LE, and tried other DAWs in the past; I prefer CEP.
I started using CEP back in '97, actually, and I'm shit-fast onnit, which is why I never changed it out. I have it onna dual PIII Win XP Pro machine (my third machine I've used it on, and it's on its second OS HD), and it's quite stable, altho' I have to stop and save EQ moves during mixdown or I can crash it.
Am I the lone Luddite here?

I dunno if I count, I record with Audacity, and mix in Reaper, and run Win XP and a 1010LT? But I don't know what versions.
I also will mix in Audacity on Linux given half a chance, and this new update with previews looks kinda neat.
If they'd just put REAPER on linux like they said they would, I would drop XP like a hot potato. It's annoying having to keep a separate machine, and keep it detached from the network in case of security issues.

The previous statement is from a guy who records his own, and other projects for fun. No money is made.

Re: Legacy DAW progs/interface?
I've been using Cakewalk/Sonar since version 2.
When I got serious about it, I built a dedicated WinXP Pro tracking workstation.
It is running Sonar 8 Producer and twin Aardvark Q10's @ 24/48.
I've since built a monster post machine but I've got to tell you, that tracking setup just works...

The only thing that bugs me about my system is having to do a multi WAV export from Audacity into REAPER, if REAPER could import the Audacity session, life would be heaven.

Re: Legacy DAW progs/interface?
I get a little of that issue from my live sessions on the Zoom R16 into my DAW.
Have to start each session from scratch...

Re: Legacy DAW progs/interface?
Here's another thing. A frequent collab'r uses some kinda older Mac, such that his *.wav files won't open in my Cool Edit.
The workaround is I open and save those files in Wavesaur and then I can import them.
I reckon it's a problem with the file headers ...

Maybe you need to upgrade to an ensoniq paris rig.
