That’s crazy! Have you done tests comparing it to two condensers in figure 8? I’m not sure how happy I’d be being restricted to PZMs for vocal and guitar.

Did I accidentally wander over to the BattleBots forum again?
Cool idea, but seems a bit unwieldy and the PZMs would certainly catch a lot of room bleed in a lively room. However, I'd really love to hear this thing turned sideways and used as a stereo PZM room mic!

Ya, well, I haven't got two decent figure of eight capable mics, but I have the pzms. Have you tried them close in like this?A.David.MacKinnon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 2:01 pmThat’s crazy! I like that. I'll be using one side of it anyway on a drum kit next- I'll have to remember the stereo room thing for a live situation.Magnetic Services wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 3:24 pmDid I accidentally wander over to the BattleBots forum again?

And yes, my room is lively. Watch the video- I get pretty much guitar in the vocal mic, but very little vocal in the guitar. I think that would improve in a dead room.
As for weildy-ness, can't be any worse that trying to train a singer/songwriter to sing into the mic! With the pzm, they can move their head around a lot and there are no phasing or off-mic issues.

Its pretty interesting. It looks like one of those hospital tables. I think I prefer it to be a little smaller and non-reflective. It looks very well built,

While keeping the direct sound more separated, you'll have loads of fun trying to deal with early reflections with this puppy.
I remember learning from the engineer who records James Taylor, who sings and plays at the same time:
They used a wooden surface, and had it also treated like those gobos you see in studios. And not quite as large as this one.
Another possibility: Make an absorber only for the mics themselves, far less size, and to be mounted with the microphone, which means
you can move it around and the absorption will not need to be moved, as it stays exactly in position with the mic.
Cheers!!!

Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.

Re: Singer/songwriters need a bib!
I should have posted a picture with the mics rigged- here's an earlier version.
I'm using pzm mics on here, so no early reflections. The lower one, for guitar, is held in place with magnets.
