Plug in for Leslie effect...

Post by Recycled_Brains » Wed Nov 14, 2018 11:40 am

Any of you know of a good (preferably dirt cheap) plug in that'll do a convincing Leslie speaker effect? I have this sound in my head, and I could maybe pull it off with some pedals, but it would be a stretch.

I have the Echoboy... maybe you know of a trick or preset with that?

Maybe tie a mic to my puppies tail and have him run around in circles?

Any tips would be appreciated.

Do you have the whole Soundtoys bundle? There might be something in Tremolator or Phasemistress. There also the PSP http://www.pspaudioware.com/plugins/mul ... sp_lotary/ that people seem to like.

Is it just one part? I could run it through my Leslie...

I don't have the full bundle unfortunately. Just decapitator and Echoboy. I was thinking the same about those others, but I'm trying to avoid spending more money. I just bought a bunch of stuff. ha.

It is just one part. A relatively short guitar solo. That would be amazing man. I don't want to put ya out, but if you're into it, I definitely am! I hear that swirling stereo effect in my head, I just don't have the best means of achieving it.

In the guitar pedal end of things the Behringer rotor pedal does a pretty convincing job( the cheap brown plastic one, whatever it's called). It's basically a knock off of the line 6 pedal. I use it on farfisa quite often.

that would work.

years ago i was recording a band, we had a close mic on the amp, i gave the guitarist's bandmate a 57 and said "just do some ridiculous interpretive dance and wave that around while he plays". that mic combined with the close mic made for some great phasey goodness.

anyway, free leslie here:

The free one that comes with Protools has some really good capabilities. I've got 2 actual Leslies at my place and I still use that plugin often.

haha, awesome.

I found that plug earlier, but unless I'm getting misinformation, VST and AU don't jive with pro tools 12.

Also, *puppy's

Sheesh, I didn't know this even existed. Will investigate.

I think it's called the DB 33.
Not sure if it's under Modulation or Harmonic?

One more vote for the PSP plug ins. Those are wildly cool and useful.
Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.

:worthy:

It's great. Added a little reverb, no EQ or anything else. Sits in there perfectly.

I'll be sure to post it once the record is done.
