fader setup for 500 series preamps
fader setup for 500 series preamps
Is there a fader or a mixer with very little inside that can work exclusively with 500 series boxes? Nothing getting in the way of the sound. Just faders basically . Not sure how Id work out aux sends.

There's two that I can think of.
One is the Purple MFTwenty5, a 20X5 all discrete mixer in 1RU, that lines up with the Sweet10 rack in terms of spacing, and has a P&G fader pack as an option.
The other is the Speck viaFader
Disclaimer: I helped design/develop the MFTwenty5 system, so of course I think it's killer, and it's what I user here.
That said, the Speck seems solid, and Vince is a great guy. You'd have to check it out to see if it's what you are after.

Not quite faders, but the Little Labs redcloud https://littlelabs.com/redcloud.html could be helpful.

Radial makes a 500 lunchbox which includes a passive summing mixer, the "Workhorse".

Thanks for the great responses. Good stuff
Re: fader setup for 500 series preamps
Forgive the silly question. I get the radial fill it with preamps. Is it a mess to buy another 500 lunchbox and fill it with EQs? How would I connect a preamp to an eq and back through to the radial preamp? I feel stupid asking this question. What is the proper way? Thanks

Re: fader setup for 500 series preamps
I have a Radial six pack workhorse and it has a cool feature which allows you to cascade channels into the modules beside it with the flick of a switch so you can have a pre and to it's right an eq and then a compressor in the next one and run them as a channel strip by flicking a switch in the back... very handy for tracking.
if you wanted the eqs in a separate lunchbox you would just send the output of the pre into the input of the eq with an xlr.

the new rules : there are no rules
