MT44D Trouble

Post by icatchdinosaurs » Sat Jul 20, 2019 10:16 am

Hello. Having some trouble with my unit. The first few days I owned it the machine was functioning fine after bypassing the two track restriction internally. Now I’m having trouble with the play, record, ff and rewind functions. They will work fine for a few minutes then completely stop. If I turn of the machine overnight it will start working again the next day but not for long. Does anyone have any idea why? Belt problem? Thanks.

Not sure how mechanically similar it is to the Yamaha MT8X.
When you say transport controls completely stop, you mean none of the controls cause any behavior whatsoever? Or does the deck "try" to carry out the transport command and "give up"?
Does the capstan motor continue to spin once the problem arises?
On my MT8X the capstan motor's failure came the form of playback speeds going all wonky after a few minutes of use.
Village Idiot.
