Latest gear you've acquired.....
Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Yeah, I love it at like 8-10:00, tone at 8-9:00. It has just the right amount of SVT-ish grind without becoming fuzz right there.
Yesterday I made a board of the Green Russian amd Triangle Nanos along with a Mastrotron.
The Triangle is much hotter than the GR, and also sounds good on the bass, but can't get the subtle grind.
The Mastrotron is anuvver Zvez craziness-incarnate, tho' not as wild as say, the Wooly Mammoth or Fuzz Factory.
I used the board with a looper into a clean SS amp (Trademark 10) and was wankin' with a Xavier semi-hollow LP-type guitar with P90-types.
Running either nano into the Mastrotron was pure bliss - just so cool.
The nanos did not stack well into each other.
But that GR - I'm really thinking of swapping out the Pork Loin I replaced the Hot Tubes with on my bass board ...
And then getting anuvver GR for the guitar board, if I see one cheap enuff (my cut-off for nano's is US$60-65.00)

I’ve got a double muff that I like to voltage sag, maybe give that a whirl too.
Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Bet that sounds real, eh, dirty.
What do you use to drop the voltage?
Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
My power supply (one spot cs12) has this feature built in but there are also simple DIY projects to build a dying battery sim.
Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Ah.
I've seen a pedal that does it somehow- a MXR, I think, where it's a feature ...
Ye olde "White Cliffs of Dover" trick.

Sure does! I admit I forgot about this one. I used to have a real optigan but it barely worked so I got rid of it (not needing another project and all that).A.David.MacKinnon wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 2:56 pmDoes this count as gear? God damn it's fun -

If I were independently wealthy I would buy one of these: https://www.quilterlabs.com/index.php/p ... isc-Player
But $4k seems like a lot to me.

Just picked up a Ronroco (baritone charango). Getting my head around the tuning and chord shapes is a challenge but it sure sounds cool.

Just got the Ampeg bass opto compressor, and the Pigtronix Philosopher bass compressor v. 2.
Bought both used, in my Quixote-like search for my bass board compressor.

The hair really pushes the gross factor to 11. Thankfully mine is made of wood
Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Dude, it's built-in fuzz!
Also, I think the head is the grossest part ...
(I'll leave the "wood" joke for someone else.)

I was trying to process my disgust at that and remembered when I worked in an instrument shop and the luthier would grind a bone nut and the whole place smelled like death.A.David.MacKinnon wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 8:03 pmThe hair really pushes the gross factor to 11. Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Just took delivery on a used Aerodyne bass.
Came set up with flats and incredible low action, de-tuned and the output jack disconnected. Had to solder the jack, and of course I did it backwards the first time, what made for extra buzz.
Fixt that - what a really nice bass, P/J, beveled, light, fast and low and growly.
