Does a furnace count? If so....... A new furnace!!!!

Came home to a cold house. Apparently vintage is not a word that carries good connotations when you're talking HVAC.
Just had a similar "gear" purchase, some "module" that controls the blower motor. Our high efficiency furnace was installed 10 years, 5 months ago, with a 10 year warranty... I can play guitar a little better when the house is warmer than 50 F...

New furnace is in. It's so quiet! Before moving the studio to the garage I spent a few years working out of the basement (next to the old clunker). Should have replaced it back then. I wouldn't have had to shut the heat off every time I wanted to do some work.

DBX 224 rack mount noise reduction unit. Super cheap (for a reason). I have no love for DBX noise reduction but sometimes it can do wonderful things when you encode but don't decode - it's compression and a big high end boost. Can be magic on high strung guitars and anything that needs to be sparkly but mixed back. Also cool but splashy on drum room mics.
Its a stunt box to be sure but great to have when you need it and for $25 well worth it.

I'm seriously considering it for post-production work, with the intent to start working in Atmos soon. But last I checked, you had to get a dongle just to try the free trial! Now I don't even see anything about a trial.

You do need a eLicenser dongle for any of it, trial or not.

Fortunately, I had an Arturia one, same technology, so I did not have to buy a second one.

Will buy a backup one anyways early next year, as this Arturia one is extremely old.

Those eLicensers are only 30 bucks. So not terrible.

Roland Rubix44 interface. Unusual in this day and age because it has no built-in stuff that needs to be accessed by a specific application. All the control are hardware the USB is generic, so I should be able to use it with anything. Linux and Reaper is known to work.

I can also use it with my iPad... though I need to buy a dongle because Apple.

It’s kind of a rub that Roland clearly knows how to make a class compliant usb device when they want to but chooses not to with most of their other usb enabled gadgets.

Sound devices 10 input interface, wA273eq, Wa87, Watb12, DBX 376 and its not a starved plate at 200volts so 8 have a bunch of old 12au7’s from an old tube lathe preamp that I’m gonna switch out.
Had to move the studio back into the truck, so, this could get real good...

Interestingly enough Windows needed a driver to get the MIDI part working. Everything worked easily on Linux.

Paiste full crash, Zildjian A medium ride, Cinemag transformer for a Fet47 project, a pair of AKG D190E mics and some NOS tubes for my Hamptone preamp. Merry christmas to me!
