Tape Transfer Options

i know there are quite a few out there. most critical is 2 or 3 1" 16 track reels I have - my MS16 may have finally died. have a couple 1/2" 8 track reels i may toss in as well.

these projects have more or less non-existent budgets, so round and wound seems most appealing, as it's cheapest i've come across. anyone have experiences with them? others?

I don't have any direct experience working with them, but I follow them on Instagram and they seem to be real pros, with a resume of work to match. They have equipment for pretty much any format you might be looking to transfer. You should drop 'em a line and get a quote.

Sorry to hear about your MS16! Great machine. What went wrong? Shouldn't be much that can't be fixed, especially if you can sort out an 'as is' backup deck for parts... they do show up sometimes! Did it catch on fire??

I know Pierre de Reeder & Curt Anderson at 64 sound were planning on starting up a 'no frills' tape transfer service where they just run your reel and send you the print - no markers, editing etc to keep things affordable. They are both super sweet knowledgeable dudes and can be reached via https://www.64sound.com

Not sure if they ever officially got that off the ground, but especially considering the pandemic - I bet they'll sort you out. I know they have 1/2" 8 track, not sure about 1" 16...
