I LOVE Iron Maiden. Legit. One of the few bands from my youth that I never moved on from.

You saw Maiden in 1980??? Holy Shit! What size of venue? Where?
I'm embarrassed to say I've never seen Maiden or Priest. WTF is wrong with me? My wife has seen both a few times.

I saw Priest open for Kiss in 1979. My first big rock show.

I always mic the bottom. If I get tracks from somebody with no mic on the bottom I re-amp the snare track with a snare drum sitting on top of a Fender Pro Jr and mic the snares there. I almost always have an 1176 plug on the bottom snare fast attack/slowest release.
BTW, tried this today on a mix to lengthen snares and holy shit did it work well.

I forgot about that reamp trick. I have done that a couple of times. It's cool. I'm going to try that 1176 setting.
How important is the mics being mirrored to each other? I always wonder if I'm only trying to do that because I like visual symmetry.

!980, opening for, I think, Scorps.
For sure Girlschool played first, and I liked 'em best, me being a bit of a nascent garage-rocker.
And Eddie.
I had gotten to be buds with a townie bartender while in school in Champaign because we were both chasing the same townie girl.
Somehow he had two tickets to the show in Danville (I think he asked her and she couldn't) and we ended up getting loaded and going.
I think it was called "The Fieldhouse", and capacity was mebbe 2,500? It was packed.
EDIT: I looked it up, may have been '82 at The Danville Civic Center (capacity 4750):

Yep. I use a Beta 56,or Heil pr30 on top,sm98 underneath. Submixed through a Soundcraft 200b to Interface, mostly to give it some character before, also to save inputs on interface.
