Isn't that Jason Mason from Future Pigeon / Whisky Biscuit? Were you recording them?

Not my Ball, but those things are very accurate. Not as accurate as the Goodrich Pedal Steel volume pedal, but that is twice the price.
I got this picture of the FuturePidgeon site. Never met any of those boys but Brandon.

The Beastie Boys had a nicely recorded bong hit.. And Royal Trux looped one for "Driving in That Car with The Eagle on The Hood"..
I'm quite sure Jason's applying the "method" technique in getting that sound to tape!

I think a C1000S might also work there...

My favorite mic'ed bong is the one on Monster Magnet's Spine of God ... at the beginning of "Nod Scene" IIRC ...

I, er, I mean this guy I know, has also had luck actually pressing the 57 against the plastic down near the bottom of the bong (beneath the water level). Holding the front of the mic against the bong gives real low, bubbly sounds, while aiming the mic as shown above captures the "pull" part of the process better. I mean, or so I've heard.
But what is the best tube preamp under $500 for miking bongs with?

I find that a 10-12" glass bong has better resonance, and a fuller tone.

Since it was mentioned, I like the bong sound on that Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds song, "Shufflin' On."
There's a pretty cool snippet of Chicago's El tran, too on the CD.
