New G5: Buying More RAM. Where? How Much? Easy To Install?

Post by Catoogie » Mon Dec 19, 2005 8:57 am

The refurbished G5 I'm getting only comes with 512 of RAM and I want to buy more. Where do you suggest buying from? How much does it cost? And is it easy for me to install?

Thanks!

Check http://macsales.com

I've had good luck with them. Also...you might get lucky. My refurb came with more RAM (and hard disk) than advertised. If you're not in a hurry, wait till you get the machine.

I recommend crucial.com. They supposedly sell you the best chips for your specific model.

Make sure you install the latest firmware update before you install the RAM. I didn't, and my computer went all kooky.

It's super easy to install RAM on a Mac. I use crucial and have never had a problem.

Best,
