So, I finished sealing the double door entrance with silicon molding. I am also going to layer the insides of the doors with foam. I wanted to hear if all my work paid off for isolation. So i took my stereo out of the bedroom,75watt/channel plus a sub and put it on the floor in the live area.I loaded it up with AC/DC Hells Bells and cranked it. I went in the living room and shut both doors. I could hear NOTHING!!!
Turn it up?
The Boobie is an old S.O.B. (Son Of Boogie) It has a custom Poplar cabinet,Eminence Red Fang alnico speaker and Yellowjacket EL 84 tube coversion. Cuts the wattage in half. I use it more than the AC/30.lyman wrote:is that boogie a mark I? and the space in general looks like it's going to be great. congratulations!
Turn it up?

the studio looks beautiful!
if you haven't bought the desk yet... i'm in the process of building something fairly similar. the top of the desk will be 3' x 6' with a 4 space rack on each side and a bridge across the middle for the monitor. Supporting the desk will be a 12 space rack on the left (which is finished and in use) and a bookshelf on the left (i have long legs and 2 racks would give me too little leg room in the center, but you could easily just build a second 12 space rack). total it's probably going to cost around $100 for all the wood, screws and rack rails... the total is a little higher because i had to buy a few supplies (plywood blade for my circular saw, countersink bit, etc)... skill wise it wasn't too hard and would have been even easier if i bought the wood at a lumberyard where they can cut with precision, as opposed to lowe's where they won't cut any more accurately than 1".
