Dang that thing is loud
Alright. I've been battling this sampler i bought, that came to me broken.. I installed a new hard drive in the thing and the OS system found it! yay, BUT , the drive is LOUD!!! does that mean its on its last leg. I bought the drive used at a recycled comp store. i really don't want the thing dying halfway on tour.

I wouldn't bail on your drive yet. I've got a Seagate Barracuda that's pretty obnoxious and it's been like that from day 1. 3 years down the road, still going strong. I know that jittery, clicky, searching sound doesn't yield maximum confidence, but judge it's performance over time. How many RPM is it?

Noise level in and of itself is not necesarily bad. If the noise level changes, that would be something to be concerned with.
Some drives are quiet, some are really noisy.

cool, i didn't really want to ride out to REPC on my lunch break again. i really should look into getting an external drive as well, so when my internal does fail, i have a backup. ready to go.

Yeah, like Mark said, if it starts making different sounds, you should swap it asap.
