Does anyone have current info on how to do these mods? I've got am M8 I'd love to turn into a set of preamps but all the sites and links to the mods and instructions are dead.
These can't be used as pre's stock, right?

I did find that and I also found a downloadable zip with all the original stuff RodC had come up with/additional notes.Nick Sevilla wrote:Maybe you are looking for this?

Has anyone out there done this/is anyone out there using these as preamps? I wonder how these interface with an audio interface's line ins considering the impedance.
Please let me know!

I spent some time working on/modifying these units a few years ago. I ended up deciding I was better off removing (almost) all the existing components and using it as a blank slate for building a preamp, rather than just doing minimum modifications to the existing circuit. In stock form, there's a lot going on in that chassis and it's not always easy to see what's what, especially if you're new to working on these types of circuits like I was at the time.
When I got mine working it interfaced just fine with the rest of my equipment, but I had added an output transformer, which is not part of the original design. But lots of people seemed happy with the modifications RodC suggests. There is at least one old thread on this message board with lots of information in it.
