Capture 914 and 930 1/4" Tape -Anyone try this new tape
https://www.splicit.com/Capture-914-Rec ... cap914.htm
http://www.splicit.com/Capture-930-Reco ... cap930.htm
only available in 1/4" format and looks to be +3db bias tape. i've seen some hifi guys comment on it, but haven't heard any pros check it out. priced reasonably too.
i think it's manufactured by either Pyral or Mulann in France under the direction of the Splicit peoples.
Anyone try this yet?
Pretty wild to see someone else in the tape market besides RMGI and ATR.

Well the 930 looks like LPR35, so probably appropriate for 388 use...a few bucks cheaper too.
I have to assume that this is just white labeled from someone else, probably Pyral/Mulann, as you suggested. I would be surprised if it's a special formula made for them, regardless of what their marketing text says.. But either way, I would be willing to try it out if they want to send me a reel to demo...

it's not, i just searched online. Apparently same company that used to make Zonal, but making this tape to Splicit specs. So it's not re-branded.kslight wrote:Well the 930 looks like LPR35, so probably appropriate for 388 use...a few bucks cheaper too.

doing more research apparently the company went through a couple iterations.kslight wrote:Hmm I've never heard of Zonal, but if I had a need for more tape I'd take a swing at it.
Zonal then Ilford-Zonal then Racal-Zonal. British made, used by the BBC apparently, they also made 5" tapes for Nagra players (makes sense since the swiss are close by).
Pretty cool nonetheless, +3 tape ala Scotch 206/207 albeit only 1/4"

Necro thread but did anyone every try this tape?
Duplication.ca has it at a good price and they're just up the road from me (although I'll be getting delivery with this whole lock-down business). I've been thinking about reviving my Tascam MSR16S for ages now. This might be all the excuse I need.

Never did try it. I have a fair amount of LPR35 and when I last bought tape the LPR35 was cheaper after shipping than the capture. And my decks are already setup for LPR35.

Is this or the lpr35 appropriate for my Fostex A8?

Excuse the late response. RTM LPR35 is (*in my opinion) probably best for Fostex A8/R8 reel decks. RTM LPR35 (thinner 911) is closest to old Quantegy 457 and is easier for the Fostex's mechanicals to pull, less head wear. Never used Capture but RTM LPR35 is a better choice. I've used RMGI LPR35 (same as RTM) on my Tascam 388 which is mechanically set up for 1.0mil tape (LPR35).
